WorkVentures Circular IT

WorkVentures CircularIT

When technology reaches the end of its useful life, responsible organisations turn to IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) to ensure their devices are managed securely, sustainably, and strategically.

WorkVentures makes it easy for you to transform your end-of-life IT into meaningful impact. We collect, securely wipe and repurpose your tech, allowing you to give back. By choosing WorkVentures CircularIT, you can directly support communities in need while strengthening your social procurement credentials As a co-founder of the National Device Bank, WorkVentures ensures every donation is backed by rigorous impact and sustainability reporting, so you can see the difference your contribution makes for both communities and the environment.

Our CircularIT Services

At WorkVentures, we believe IT asset disposition (ITAD) should do more than clear out old equipment, it should create measurable value, protect your data, and contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive future. Through WorkVentures CircularIT, we transform end-of-life technology into opportunity: securing sensitive information, reducing e-waste, recovering financial value, and delivering tangible social impact.

Secure Data Disposal

Protecting sensitive information is critical. WorkVentures CircularIT services ensure that all data-bearing devices are wiped or destroyed to the highest industry standards, safeguarding your business, your customers, and your reputation. Every process is fully documented with certificates of data destruction and audit-ready reporting.

Sustainable Solutions

ITAD is more than just disposal: it’s about purposefocused sustainability. Devices are refurbished, repurposed, or responsibly recycled through R2 certified downstream recyclers, helping reduce e-waste and carbon emissions. By extending the life of IT equipment, organisations actively contribute to a circular economy and meet their environmental, WHS and ESG commitments.

Recovering Value

Even end-of-life assets still hold value. Through resale or component recovery, WorkVentures CircularIT can help you recover financial returns that can offset future technology investments or be donated towards social impact initiatives.

Streamlined Operations

Managing used equipment can drain valuable IT resources. As your trusted for-purpose ITAD partner, WorkVentures CircularIT handles everything, from logistics and asset tracking to compliance and reporting, so your team can focus on what matters most: running your business.

Social and Ethical Impact

Organisations seeking to do good choose ITAD programs that do more than protect data and the environment: they create positive social impact and contribute to your ESG outcomes. Donated or refurbished devices can empower communities, support digital inclusion, and strengthen your organisation’s social responsibility profile. It also reduces your environmental footprint by keeping devices here in Australia, supporting communities doing it tough.

Why Choose WorkVentures CircularIT

At WorkVentures, we have reimagined IT asset disposition (ITAD). We go beyond secure disposal, transforming your hardware into opportunity, impact, and accountability. WorkVentures is the only ITAD in Australia whose profits are 100% dedicated to social impact.
How we create impact:

Donate back to Communities in Need

Redirect residual value by donating devices to trusted NFPs and inclusion partners. You choose the number of devices to donate and the causes; we manage tracking, logistics, secure data sanitisation, handover, and impact delivery.

Strengthen Social Procurement & ESG credentials

Turn your IT refresh into a measurable social procurement initiative. Enhance your ESG profile and stand out in procurement processes and stakeholder reporting.

Empower Digital Inclusion

Help bridge the digital divide by providing access to technology for students, job seekers, and community programs. Each device donation contributes to meaningful social and economic participation.

Transparent Impact & Sustainability Reporting

Receive detailed reporting on chain-of-custody, data destruction certificates, reuse vs. recycling outcomes, carbon emissions avoided, and social value created.

WorkVentures CircularIT makes IT Asset Disposition simple, secure, and sustainable.

We collect, data-wipe, and repurpose end-of-life technology to extend its life and create community impact. As co-founder of the National Device Bank, we ensure every donation supports digital inclusion and meets social procurement goals.

How to Engage with WorkVentures

1. Inventory & assessment

We catalogue your refreshable IT assets, assess condition  and residual value.

3. Data sanitisation & certification

All storage media are sanitised per industry standards (e.g. NIST 800-88 or equivalent). Where erasure isn’t possible, we physically destroy the memory of devices. A certificate can be issued for every item.  We utilise Blancco IBR to process all controlled assets to data santise & grade each asset.

5. Social impact delivery

Devices are passed to communities in need nominated not-for-profit and diversity and inclusion programs, connecting into the National Device Bank’s network of NFPs. We manage logistics, onboarding, training, delivery, supporting, and verification.

2. Secure collection & transport

We handle logistics with strict chain-of-custody, secure containers,  locked trucks, etc.

4. Refurbish, resell or donate

Devices in good condition are refurbished and redeployed or resold. Others are responsibly recycled. For items with residual value, you may elect to donate them, receive a rebate, or a hybrid approach.

6. Reporting & storytelling

You receive audit-ready reports: volumes handled, reuse vs recycling, carbon saved, social impact delivered, greenhouse gas (GHG) offsets, narratives & case studies for internal/external communications.

MDM Lock

At WorkVentures, our mission is to ensure every usable device donated to us can be refurbished and redistributed to someone in need, helping close the digital divide across Australia. For that to happen, devices need to be fully accessible and ready for a new user. One common barrier to this is an MDM lock.

What Is an MDM Lock?

An MDM lock (Mobile Device Management lock) is a security feature used by organisations to manage and protect corporate or school-owned devices. It lets IT teams enforce policies, install updates, and wipe devices if they’re lost or stolen.

While this is useful for organisational security, an active MDM lock prevents refurbishment teams from accessing the device’s settings, clearing old data and preparing it for reuse. This means a device with an MDM lock often cannot be reused and instead ends up in recycling or e-waste even though it could have served someone who needs it.

How to Check and Remove MDM Locks Before Donation

For Apple devices:
Check under Settings > General > Device Management or VPN & Device Management. If you see a profile here, the device is likely managed by an MDM system.

For Windows devices:
Go to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school. If there’s a connection listed, it may be under MDM control.

If a device is managed, the easiest and most secure way to remove the lock is to contact your IT administrator and request.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where does WorkVentures operate?

WorkVentures operates across Australia, with logistics partners covering all major cities and regional centres.

How much of my fleet do I need to donate if I use WorkVentures?

You can donate as much or as little as you wish — every device makes a difference. Some partners choose to donate a small portion of their retired fleet, while others commit 100%. We’ll work with you to find a balance that fits your sustainability and social impact goals while ensuring your IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) requirements are fully met.

Where will my donated devices end up?

All donated devices are securely data-wiped, refurbished, and distributed through our National Device Bank program to individuals and community organisations in need. These include disadvantaged students, job seekers, and not-for-profits working to bridge Australia’s digital divide. When possible, we provide detailed impact reporting so you can see the real difference your donation makes.

How does WorkVentures ensure our data security is not compromised?

Data security is our top priority. All devices received by WorkVentures are processed under strict ISO 27001-aligned data handling and destruction protocols. We use industry-certified data erasure tools (such as Blancco) to permanently remove all information from drives, with serialised reporting available for compliance and audit purposes. Devices that cannot be securely wiped are physically destroyed to ensure no data can ever be recovered.

We maintain secure logistics, CCTV-monitored facilities, and chain-of-custody tracking from pickup through to final disposition ensuring full accountability at every step.

Do you accept all device types as donations?

Yes, we accept a wide range of IT equipment including laptops, desktops, monitors, and peripherals (such as keyboards, mice, and docking stations). Fit-for-purpose devices are prioritised for refurbishment and donation, while others are remarketed to sustain the program. Items are responsibly recycled to recover materials and minimise landfill.

What happens if the devices can’t be repurposed?

Any devices that cannot be reused are processed through R2 certified recycling partners to ensure environmentally responsible material recovery. Even when devices aren’t suitable for reuse, their components still contribute to sustainability outcomes and help support WorkVentures’ broader social programs.

Can I deliver assets directly to WorkVentures?

Yes. Donations can be delivered directly to our Sydney facility by prior arrangement. We’ll coordinate logistics to make the process easy and ensure proper handling and reporting of your assets upon arrival.

What costs are involved?

Collection and processing costs depend on:

  • Location and access requirements
  • Quantity and type of assets
  • Whether devices are for resale, donation, or recycling

In many cases, where assets have residual value or are donated in good working order, collection and processing fees can be subsidised or offset entirely.

Every engagement is scoped transparently up front, so there are no hidden costs, just a clear pathway to secure, sustainable, and socially impactful IT asset management.

Does WorkVentures collect assets?

WorkVentures provides national collection coverage across metropolitan and most regional areas of Australia. Collection fees depend on volume, location, and type of service (donation, resale, or full ITAD). For many corporate partners, logistics can be integrated into the ITAD agreement and in cases where devices are donated in good working condition, collection may be subsidised or free.

How long does it take to process equipment through to us obtaining a residual return?

The turnaround time depends on volume, condition, and service type (donation-only, resale, or ITAD).

Once testing and refurbishment are complete, residual values are assessed and a return summary report is provided. We work to maximise both your financial return and social impact outcomes.
