Upcoming courses at Airds

Our Connect Centre at Airds has a new free handyperson's course starting on Wednesday 21 July. The course will run every Wednesday for 18 weeks between 9.30am and 2.00pm. Places are still available.

During the July school holidays we will be running two free community greening workshops at Airds. Learn simple gardening skills such as propagation and planter box design with a qualified instructor from the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney.  The sessions will be held on Thursday 8 July at 2.00pm, and again on Thursday 15 July at 3.00pm. Contact the Airds Centre to register.

WorkVentures’ 2010 Amazing Race is off to a flying start after receiving a $10,000 donation from the NSW Government on Monday 31 May.

Former trainee takes bronze medal

Congratulations to former WorkVentures’ trainee Tristyn Davies for winning a bronze medal in the Business Services category at the WorldSkills Australia National Competition in Brisbane last week.

The National Competition ran over three days from Friday 7 May to Sunday 9 May, and featured more than 500 competitors from 30 regions across Australia. With awards in 50 trade and skill categories, competition for the coveted Gold, Silver and Bronze medals was extremely fierce. The overall winner will attend the 41st International WorldSkills Competition in London 2011, competing against 48 other countries.
