Our training includes:

  • Our Macquarie Fields Connect Centre is working in partnership with Housing NSW and the 'Schools as Community Centres' team to run a homework club. There are two sessions each week for children to do homework in a safe and quiet environment, running on Tuesdays and Thursdays afternoons from 2.30pm to 4.30pm during school terms. As part of their studies, students from the Australian Catholic University mentor and support the children to do their homework, with particular focus on literacy and numeracy.
  • Our next free Handperson course started at our Airds Centre on Wednesday 21 July. The course will run between 9.00am and 2.00pm every Wednesday for 18 weeks.
  • Job and life skills: available individually or through group workshops at Airds. The course provides employment, personal, literacy and numeracy skills plus job specific work experience.
  • Literacy and numeracy tutoring: one on one training tailored to your needs, supported by TAFE. This is available through our Macquarie Fields and Airds Connect Centres - contact either Centre directly to book your lesson.
  • Money matters: Our Airds Connect Centre offers a program that will help you to learn how to juggle your money to meet everyday living costs and avoid unnecessary debt. This is available as a group session or through one to one support and tutoring.
  • Study skills for school students: individual homework and research project support for students. Available Monday to Thursday from 2.30pm to 4.30pm at Macquarie Fields, and 3.00pm to 4.30pm at Claymore.
  • Young parents project: A group of young parents meet every Monday from 9.30am to 11.30am with sessions covering subjects such as healthy eating, and health and well-being. Childcare is available. The sessions are run through our Macquarie Fields Connect Centre.
