Waterloo and Woolloomooloo Connect Centres to close

After careful consideration of a number of factors, WorkVentures regretfully has decided to close our Waterloo and Woolloomooloo Connect Centres, with effect from Friday 30 October 2009.

When these Centres opened in 2002 and 2003, local residents had limited free access to computers and the internet. These Centres have been providing services to residents for the past seven years, however over recent years there’s been a big increase in the number of places in the Waterloo and Woolloomooloo areas where people can access computers and the internet at no cost.

These other locations are each part of larger facilities, whereas our Connect Centres only operate to provide free computer access for residents. As there are now these alternatives for residents, we feel that the needs of residents can be met through these locations.

You can find other locations in the Waterloo and Woolloomooloo areas that offer free computer access.

While we have been able to run these Centres with support from other organisations, over the past three years the Centres have not been financially viable but WorkVentures has continued to support them. Unfortunately due to a combination of factors including the current economic conditions, we are not able to continue to support the running of these Centres.

We thank the local residents for their support of our Waterloo and Woolloomooloo Centres over the past seven years. We would also like to thank all of our volunteers who have offered their time and knowledge to help us to keep these two Centres running.
