Our services to donors

Our services to donorsWorkVentures disposes superseded IT equipment in a way that is environmentally responsible, socially beneficial and financially attractive.

Read our case study about The Westpac Group to find out about their support for Connect IT.

Our offer to assist companies and government departments with IT equipment disposal is:

  • We will collect IT equipment from all Australian capital city locations. Any regional collections are on an individual quote basis.
  • We will collect all IT equipment – whether or not it works properly or meets our minimum specifications.
  • Collection from capital city locations is within five working days of notification.
  • Minimum pickup quantity is 20 systems (or 40 items).
  • All donated IT equipment must be disconnected and centrally located.
  • Decommissioning all machines will occur at our production sites – all drives will be unconditionally low level formatted or physically destroyed.
  • Collected equipment is refurbished where possible, or else recycled in line with best practice and environmental standards.
  • Refurbished systems are cleaned to remove all company identification.
  • WorkVentures will email a detailed asset listing within five working days of collection (10 days if items are not bar coded).
  • WorkVentures will provide annual confirmation of total number of units donated, the uses to which donated items were put (refurbished versus recycled), a breakdown of market segments where the refurbished units were sold (for example single parents, job seekers, disabled, seniors, other low income families, non-profits and schools etc), and where possible specific case studies showing social benefit from donated PCs.
  • WorkVentures will work with donors to support promotion of their actions and achievements.

Our standard charges for performing these services are as follows:

  • Items meeting WorkVentures minimum specification of Pentium 4 will be collected, expertly decommissioned and then either refurbished or recycled for free.
  • Items not meeting our minimum specification (below Pentium 4) will be charged on a cost recovery basis; although we are able to absorb reasonable costs dependent upon the quality of the overall donation and the percentage of sub Pentium 4 units collected. We aim to make IT disposal as cost effective as possible.

Assuming that the PCs donated are wholly or primarily Pentium 4, then our services are free. At worst there will be minimal costs involved to clear old IT equipment.

Note that where charges are required, we charge this work on an hourly rate basis covering vehicle and labour – this invariably works out significantly lower than commercial operators who typically charge on a per unit basis.
